Project Update – 3/14/18

Completed removal of natural log/ crib dam log jam.  The goal of the removal was to lower the elevation water and creek bed to assist  the sediment evacuation.

Project Update – 2/4/18

Completed a GPS topographic survey of the entire site from the campground to the old dam location.  Prior to leaving the site an inspection of each area was completed.

Project Update – 11/26/17

All design build contractor crews and equipment have been demobilized from the site for the 2017 season.  A tentative mobilization schedule has been set for May of 2018.

Project Update – 11/19/17

Work continued removing Mill Pond dam and motivate its impounded sediments downstream.

The log crib dam removed to allow free passage of the creek, with secure portions remain within the banks to either side (Photo 1 & 2). The delta floodplain was graded by machine, and channels were dug to speed and direct the water to better erode the impounded sediments (Photo 3, 4 & 5). Was released from Sullivan lake in significant quantity, flushing sediment from the delta and pond bottom into Sullivan Creek and downstream (Photo 6).

Project Update – 11/4/17

Work continued removing Mill Pond dam and motivate its impounded sediments downstream.

The timber crib and concrete dams continued to be removed, with water levels dropping more than 30 feet (Photo 1). An access road was maintained down to the dam for the removal of demolished materials from the log crib and timber dams (Photo 2). Concrete was trucked from the site and timber and fill from the log crib dam was saved for reuse on-site. Cobble and topsoil was harvested from the delta and moved to upland stockpiles (Photo 3). Water was released from Sullivan Lake Reservoir and redirected through the delta, using dikes and dug channels, to move sediment downstream (Photo 4 & 5). Portions of the final floodplain was graded by machine (Photo 6). All floating equipment was removed from the pond and the crane was demobilized from the site.
