The rock revetment and ELJ at RM 2.5 were substantially completed. Work began placing rootwad logs in the overflow channel at RM 3.0. Trail work continues on the south side trail with an road having been constructed to access the western portion of the trail, and punch list work having been completed on the western portion. The lowland trail was graded and compacted, and work began placing crushed rock over geotextile fabric. Bulk bags were placed to protect bridge abutment excavations. Logs were placed throughout the site in high density planting areas. Remaining ELJs continue to be constructed. Grading and the placement of topsoil continued throughout the site, and haul roads were obliterated in select portions of the site. All rock collars and racking bundles were completed for helicopter placement early next week. Limited duration releases from Sullivan Lake began late Thursday morning.
Project Update 9-26-2018
Work continued constructing ELJs throughout the reach. The bank at the campground was graded and topsoil spread there and throughout the site. Work began on the trails in the upland terraces. Racking bundles, rock collars and root wad trees were prepped for helicopter placements. Grading continued at the upper floodplain, and bridge abutments were excavated. High density planting areas were laid out. Rootwads, logs, and armor stone were delivered throughout the week.
Project Update 9-17-2018
Crushed rock was placed, graded and compacted at the eastern portion of the south side trail. The main channel at the upper reach continued to be excavated and graded. Logs and armor rock were delivered to the site throughout the week. Boulders for rock collars to be placed by helicopter were weighed and had holes drilled for anchorage. ELJs at river right of the middle reach were constructed. Tops soil continued to be spread at the lower reach.
Project Update 9/10/2018
Work continued on the east and west ends of the south side trail, the east side was graded and compacted, the west side trail base was graded, and graveled. The river right bridge abutment was excavated and the cut banks laid back. The upper reach at the main channel continued to be graded. All structures at the slide area were completed. Work began at right bank ELJ structures on of the middle reach. Topsoil continued to be placed throughout the site and cut banks graded. Rootwads continue to be delivered to the site. Bollard stones were placed throughout the campground and brush and concrete bollards were removed. Boulders for the helicopter placed ELJs were drilled for anchorages.
Project Update – 9/3/2018
Rootwad trees and logs were delivered to the site. The slide structure at the campground was completed and work began backfilling the structure and constructing the adjacent ELJs. The upper channel continued to be widened with material placed at the slide structure. Boulders were delivered to the site for helicopter placements and holes were drilled for anchorage. Top soils were spread at the middle reaches. Final sub-grading of the eastern portion of the looping trail was almost complete. A trail consultant, the planting subcontractor, and landscape architect visited the site.
